LVWifi broadcasts our high speed wireless internet service from seven sites in the Wilson County area.

There are a couple of components involved in delivering LVWifi.com High Speed Internet access to you. At your location we place a small radio on the outside of your location that includes the electronics and antenna for receiving and transmitting your wireless connection. This radio unit is attached to any high point on your home or business that has clear line-of-sight to our towers or access points. This can usually be accomplished by simply mounting the radio to the side of a home or roof eave, however sometimes it may take a mast of up to 40 feet in order to reach higher above trees or other obstacles. (Installation prices are quoted during the free site survey).

From the radio on the outside of the home, a single ethernet cable is run to the inside your house, where the wireless system plugs into a small power supply. This power supply can either plug directly into your PC or laptop, or in most cases, into your wireless home router. In both cases, no telephone connection, dial-up account or other Internet service providers are needed. Broadband wireless provides everything you need to fully enjoy the benefits of the internet at lightning fast speeds.

Unaffected by bad weather:
Weather doesn’t affect this technology. With all of the recent technological advances, weather has become a non-existent factor with wireless (unlike satellite internet). What this means to you is that your browsing experience will go un-interrupted. Always on, and always there for you.

Q. How will I know if service is available and how much installation will cost?

A: First, the office will setup a free site survey. This is a free service that we provide to check availability and signal strength at your location. No one needs to be at the residence or place of business for this check. During this survey, a technician will use a test radio and mapping software to test the link quality and stability. If service is available and all tests pass, you will be contacted soon thereafter with installation pricing and service options.

Q. “This is wireless… why do you have to drill a hole through my wall?”

A. In order to connect your computer to the wireless signal coming to your house, we have to attach a cable to the antenna mounted on the outside of your location. The wireless service we offer is considered wireless because the signal between you and our tower requires no physical cable stretched between LVWifi and your home or office.

Q: I’ve heard Wireless connections are always online. Doesn’t that make me vulnerable to hackers and viruses?

A: It is true that the risk of exposure is increased with a constant connection to the Internet. However, we can give you a private Internet address that cannot be accessed from the outside world. If you use a public address, we recommend a software or hardware firewall package that will keep outsiders out
